Mommy's Little Sidekick

Lily has reached the point of not being content sitting in her bouncer for long periods of time. She likes to be where the action is and, unfortunately for me, that often means she wants to be in my arms. This past weekend, I had to clean house. For those of you who have never tried it, cleaning house while trying to hold a five month old is quite challenging. Luckily, I remembered that my sister had let me borrow her baby sling. I was able to put Lily in the sling and free up both of my hands so that I could clean. Lily loved it! She sat in the sling, completely content and happy, for over half an hour. I definitely think we will be using the sling a lot more in the future!

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday

Lily is completely smitten with her Granstan!

(And I'm pretty sure the feeling is mutual!)

Springtime Fun

My mom (Granna) is always coming up with fun things for the kids to do when they are at her house. While Addison and Aubrey were visiting this weekend, she thought it would be fun to welcome in spring by making and decorating cupcakes. Each kid got their own cupcake to decorate. They iced them, licked them, iced them, licked them, iced them, licked them and then, after each cupcake had plenty of germs, they added lots of sprinkles!!! Granna and Granstan helped add the sprinkles so they didn't get all over the floor! Aubrey dressed up for the occasion! Eden ended up eating most of her icing. After she licked her knife clean, she decided it was much easier to just eat it straight from the bowl! Parker's finished product After working so hard to decorate the cupcakes, the kids needed to relax a little bit! After dinner, it was finally time to eat the cupcakes. We decided to eat them outside in order to reduce the amount of clean up that would be required after they were finished. As always, Eden took her time, savored every bite and was the last one finished. She also made the biggest mess! Showing off her icing mustache Lily is still to little to enjoy a cupcake, but she sure did enjoy hanging out with her Granstan! Thanks Granna for another fun memory!

More Parkerisms

Here are some of the funny things Parker has been saying lately:

-Mommy, Lily's hair is so cuffy. (I think he was combining crazy and puffy, but I'm really not sure.)

-You're my favorite deskitty {deputy}. (He says this when he is playing with his Woody figure from Toy Story.)

-Mommy, I need a towel. My milk is drippening {dripping}.

-One night we went to a friend's house to play and the little girls were not being very nice to him. He came to me and said, "Mommy, they are being angry to me."

-One afternoon, I was feeding Lily and heard Eden in the other room making mischief. I asked Parker to go check on her and he said, "Don't worry, Mommy. I'll take care of it." (Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing!)

-One day as we were out running errands, a truck sped past our car. Parker said, "That car was going super fast. The policeman is going to have to slow him way down and give him a chicket {ticket}."

-Parker's language is becoming so much more sophisticated. Sometimes the words/phrases he chooses surprises me. For example, one day we were driving to my sister's house. As we got closer, Parker said, "Is this the road that will lead us to Addison's house?" Another day, Parker got up from his nap and saw an egg carton that Eden had been playing with on the floor. He said, "Mommy, I see something on the floor that doesn't belong there."

Five Months Old

Lily- you turn five months old today! Here are a few of this months highlights:

-You are wearing size 3 diapers and 6-9 month clothes. You are still very chunky and your cheeks are so kissable!
-You discovered your hands this month and are constantly chewing on them. You are also very close to discovering your feet. -Your favorite things to do are swing with mommy, play under the play mat, and sit in the Bumbo. You love to sit in the Bumbo, especially while I am getting ready in the mornings and while we are eating lunch and dinner. I put you in the Exersaucer last week and you HATED it! You screamed bloody murder and your face turned bright red, so I think we will wait a few more weeks before we try that again!

-You are not sitting up on your own but are starting to be able to sit for a few minutes with the help of the Boppy. I am really hoping that you start sitting on your own very soon.
-You are still a great sleeper at night. You go to bed around 8pm and usually sleep until 7:30am. You usually take 3 naps a day- 2 hours in the morning, 1-1 1/2 hours in the afternoon, and 45 minutes around dinner time. You sleep on your back at night and on your tummy during your naps.
-You are not consistently rolling over but you did manage to roll over in your crib last weekend. I put you down on your tummy for your nap and when I came to get you, you were on your back.

-You hated eating cereal so we are no longer doing it. You would get very frustrated and refuse to open your mouth which would make me frustrated, so I decided that you just were not quite ready for it yet. We will probably try it again sometime in the next few weeks.

-You LOVE Parker and Eden. You watch their every move when they are playing around you. Parker can now make you laugh more than mommy can. A few nights ago at dinner, Parker made you laugh so loud that I could hear you all the way across the restaurant. I am so thankful that you already love each other so much and pray that you will always be close to your brother and sister.
Lily, you are getting more fun with each passing day! I hope you will always know how special you are and how much we love you! I can't wait to watch you grow and change over the next month!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Today was St. Patrick's Day and although we are not Irish, I thought it would be fun to celebrate with the kids by doing lots of green things. We started the day with green pancakes and green milk. Both Parker and Eden thought the pancakes were pretty cool!

Lunch consisted of almost all green foods, including green jello, green (sour cream and onion) chips, green apples, green grapes, green beans, and kiwi. We also had grilled cheese sandwiches in the shape of shamrocks. After lunch, we made shamrock cookies. As much as I hated it, I think Parker and Eden enjoyed eating the cookie dough as much as they enjoyed cutting out the cookies. After the kids got up from their naps, we decided to take them to Jumpin' Apes to bounce off some of their energy. Although Lily was too little to jump, she had a great time hanging out in her stroller!
We had dinner at Cici's and then came home to decorate our cookies. I had a great time trying to make today a fun and special day for the kids. It's always nice to have an excuse to do something out of the ordinary. Hopefully they made some fun, green memories too!
