Happy Thanksgiving 2015

Happy Thanksgiving from The Browns!
Wishing you a wonderful day full of family, friends and lots of yummy food!

We enjoyed our Thanksgiving feast a day early because Aunt MerMer is on shift at the hospital today.  It was great to spend time with her and Uncle Craig yesterday.  Granna made an incredible lunch and then we enjoyed games and a scavenger hunt around town.
I have so much to be thankful for, not just today but every day.  I'm most thankful for the family that God has given me.  I wouldn't want to do life with anyone else!

Eden's Birthday Party

We had Eden's birthday party last night at Peter Piper Pizza in Burleson.  Because it was on Monday night, it was not crowded at all!  Even though it was a weeknight on a holiday week, several of Eden's close friends were able to come celebrate with us.
The kids enjoyed pizza, cake and ice cream, and lots and lots of games!
Eden chose a unicorn theme this year.  Since my unicorn making skills are nonexistent, we settled on a basic cake with a unicorn on the top!  Eden loved it which is all that matters in the end!
Overall, it was a fun, easy, and laid back party.  We are so thankful to all of Eden's friends and cousins who came out on a weeknight to help us celebrate our sweet seven year old!

Eden's First Visit from the Tooth Fairy

Eden has been waiting and waiting to lose her first tooth.  We've been checking almost daily to see if any of her teeth are wiggling.  Last week, she came and showed me her "new teeth".  Unfortunately, her permanent teeth had started growing in behind her baby teeth but her baby teeth weren't budging.  This exact same thing happened to me when I was in first grade so I knew she was probably going to have to have them pulled by the dentist, just like I did.

I scheduled an appointment with our dentist, Dr. Colwick, for this morning.  I promised Eden that she was only going to look at them but when we got there, Dr. Colwick told me she had time to go ahead and pull them out.  Needless to say, Eden freaked out!  She wanted nothing to do with having her teeth pulled!  Several of Dr. Colwick's incredible staff tried to calm her down but we were never able to get her to cooperate, so we rescheduled the procedure for another day.

As soon as we got in the car, Eden calmed down and after we talked about it for a minute, she decided that she would come back this afternoon and try again.  I gave her some Benadryl after lunch to relax her and I'm happy to report that she did great!  She was so cute after they put the laughing gas on her... she just lay there and giggled and giggled!  The procedure took less that 5 minutes and I was shocked when I saw the roots on her baby teeth!  Those teeth weren't going anywhere any time soon!  She looks so cute with her toothless grin and I know she is so excited to finally say that she has lost a tooth.  She can't wait for the Tooth Fairy to come tonight!  She also can't wait to show Mrs. Brightwell and sign the tooth chart at school next week!

Thanksgiving Feasts

Last week, Eden and Lily both enjoyed Thanksgiving feasts at school.  Eden's class enjoyed their feast during lunch on Thursday.  They had so much food!  And of course, Eden was the only one in her class that did not have a piece of fruit on her plate!
Lily had two feasts... one at Thursday school and one at Sunshine preschool.  Mrs. Angie sent me a couple of pictures from her feast on Thursday and I was able to slip away from Grandparents' Day on Friday to enjoy Lily's last preschool feast ever.  I'm so thankful that I got to share in this fun day with her!

7 Years Old

My sweet, sweet Eden-
Happy 7th Birthday to you!  You have grown and changed so much this past year and I am so proud of the young lady you are becoming!  I have prayed so much the past few years about your anxiety and my prayers are slowly being answered.  You are losing some of the fear that controls you in so many situations and are instead becoming a confident little girl.  Here are some of the things I want to remember about you as you turn seven today:

-You continue to be tall and thin.  You weigh about 53 pounds and wear size 6/7 clothes.  You wear size 1 or 2 shoe.

-You are so loving and are very generous with your hugs and kisses.  You have been known to give hugs to complete strangers and we have had to make a rule that you are only allowed to kiss people in our family.

-You are a great reader and are reading on Level 21 (2nd grade level).  You have started reading easy chapter books and are doing a great job on your Accelerated Reader.  Some of your favorite books are Owl Diaries, Frog and Toad, and Katie Woo.

-You are a very good student and make good grades.  You sometimes say that you don't like school but I think some days you just get overwhelmed with the business of school.  You have a lot of friends that you talk about all of the time like Tai, Grace, Reagan, Sara, and Jackson.

-You are still the pickiest eater in our family.  Fruits and vegetables are just not your thing!  I can occasionally get you to eat a few green beans, peas, and applesauce but other than those three things, you refuse to try most fruits and vegetables.  You love manicotti, fettuccini alfredo, nachos, peanut butter and honey crackers, beans, and yogurt.  I'm not going to give up on you!  I truly believe that one day you will start to try (and like!) new and different foods!

-You learned how to ride your bike a couple of months ago and you love the freedom it has brought you!  You love to ride around the neighborhood after school and see what friends you can find to visit.

-You played soccer for the first time this fall and LOVED it!  It didn't ever bother you to get out in front of a lot of people and play.  You never scored a goal but you always tried your best and you learned a lot over the season.  You liked playing offense rather than defense because you got to kick the ball more often on offense.

-You love playing with your brother and sister but you also love to go to your room after a long day at school and play by yourself.  You are perfectly content to play quietly with your little figures for hours at a time.  You love your My Little Pony and Littlest Pet Shop figures the most.

-You also love to watch cartoons after a long day at school.  Your favorites right now are Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, PJ Masks, and Alvin and the Chipmunks.

-You are an early riser, even on the weekends.  You never sleep until your alarm clock goes off on school days and it is rare that you sleep past 7am on Saturdays.

You are such a joy to parent and I'm so proud to call you mine!  I know that this new year is going to have wonderful things in store for you and I can't wait to experience it with you!  Thank you for being a ray of sunshine in my life each and every day!  I love you to the moon and back- Mommy

Happy 7th Birthday Eden!

Today we celebrated Eden's 7th birthday!  It's hard to believe Eden is seven... it seems like just yesterday we were bringing our sweet, easy going baby girl home from the hospital.  Today was a VERY busy day for us but we made sure to make Eden feel special throughout the day!  We started early this morning with presents before breakfast.  Eden is pretty low maintenance and didn't ask for anything big this year so we got her some new Legos, books and clothes.
After presents, we headed to Granna's for more presents and our annual birthday pancakes.
Eden celebrated her birthday with chocolate donuts in her classroom and then Granna/Granstan/Grandma/Papa treated her to Taco Bueno at Grandparents' Day at school.  After school, we had family pictures and then I left for dinner with my college friends. Instead of going out to dinner, Daddy let her pick a movie to watch while they enjoyed a pizza picnic.
We are so grateful for the seven years that we have been able to enjoy our sweet EE!  I can't imagine a day without her!  Happy Birthday, Eden! We love you to the moon and back!

Soccer Awards

The girls ended a great season of soccer this past weekend!  I was a little hesitant to sign them up but now I am so glad I did!  They both had a great time and learned so much!  I am so grateful to their coaches who took time out of their busy schedules to spend time teaching our girls how to play soccer.

Eden's team ended the season undefeated.  Her teammates were so sweet and encouraging and made her feel like part of the team.  Even though she never scored a goal, I was so proud of how aggressive Eden was during the game.  She had several really good kicks in each game and learned a lot about how to play soccer.
Lily's team did not win any of their games this season but none of them seemed to notice!  They were a very young team and improved at each game.  Lily was also very aggressive and made several goals during the season.
Lily's team met at Sweet Frog last night to hand out their awards.
I don't know if either girl will choose to play again next season but I'm so thankful for everything they learned this fall.  Overall, it was a great experience for both girls!
