Field Day 2017

STAAR testing is over and that can only mean one thing... it's time for fun days like Field Day and End of the Year parties!  Today the kids enjoyed an entire day of fun!  The girls started with field events and had their parties after lunch. Parker started with his party and ended the day with his field day events.

This was Lily's first Field Day and she loved it! She and Eden won both of their races (thanks to their really long legs!).
After races, they moved to their group events like the water balloon toss, obstacle course, and bean bag race.

The final event of the morning was the tug of war. Neither of their classes won, but Lily's class won the spirit stick for kindergarten.
Eden and Mrs. Humphreys
After lunch, they each had their end of year parties. I had to work in the concession stand and wasn't able to go, so Granna came and took some pictures for me.
After his party and lunch, it was time for Parker's field day events. He also won both of his races and his class came in second for the 4x4 relay.

His class didn't win their tug of war either, but they won the spirit stick for 4th grade.

It was a fun but exhausting day!  Only a few more days until summer break starts!  We can't wait!

CHS Groundbreaking

Today Lily was invited to participate in the groundbreaking of the new Cleburne High School.  All of the Superintendent's Citizenship Award winners from the year were asked to come and participate. At first, she wasn't sure she wanted to do it, but she finally put on her cap and gown and threw one shovel of dirt with our principal and the other award winners from Gerard.
Eden will be Class of 2027 and Lily will be Class of 2029 in the new CHS. (Parker will be Class of 2025 but he was at baseball practice that morning.)
After the groundbreaking, they had several activities like face painting and train rides for the kids to enjoy. It was a fun morning celebrating the beginning of a new chapter for our school district.

April Little Things

April came and went and we are only a few weeks away from summer vacation!

Baseball is in full swing and Parker is enjoying playing pitcher and 3rd baseman on his team. They haven't won many games yet but it's still early in the season and I know they will keep improving as the months go on.
Maggie is such a funny girl!  She loves to sit and relax in our chairs on the back porch.
Several years ago, we ordered caterpillars and watched them turn into butterflies. The kids loved it so we decided to do it again. We also ordered ladybugs this time. It always amazing to watch them transform from one thing to another.
The kids got to spend some time with Holland this month. They are still completely in love with her!
She is such a sweet and easy going baby and it's always fun when she comes to visit!
And that wraps up the month of April!  Now onto one of the busiest months of the year!

Happy 10th Birthday Parker

We had a great weekend celebrating our TEN year old!  It's hard to believe Parker is now in double digits!

We started off Thursday with birthday muffins and presents.
I love this kid who made me a Mom ten years ago!
Since Cory and I both had to work, Granstan and Ryan brought Parker a special birthday lunch at school. Unfortunately, they forgot to take a picture!

Last night, we took Parker and his friend Cole to the Rangers game. They had a great time!
Cory and I surprised Parker by putting his name up on the birthday board at the game.
Tonight we had a family dinner at Rosa's. Parker enjoyed presents, tacos and cake- three of his favorite things!
We sure are thankful for our ten year old and had a great time celebrating him this weekend!

Parker's 10th Birthday Party

We didn't have Parker's birthday party until he end of May because he wanted to take several friends to watch a Cleburne Railroaders baseball game and we had to wait for their season to begin.

The eye clinic was sweet enough to let us use their suite for his party. Parker invited several of his school and baseball buddies to come celebrate with him.

(Fallon, Carson, Robert, Ashton, Parker, Cole, Kaden)
Because it was Memorial Day, they had several special pregame activities including a sky diver who entered the stadium with an American flag.

Because it was his birthday, Parker got to go on the field between innings for a special activity. He was thrown three fly balls and if he caught one of them, he won a gift certificate to a local restaurant. Unfortunately, the kid throwing the balls threw three very uncatchable fly balls and Parker got close but missed them all. He was very disappointed but they gave him a tshirt as a consolation prize.
The game went into 13 innings but there were fireworks after the game, so the boys wanted to stay until the bitter end. I don't think we got into bed until midnight!
Parker has some great friends and I was so glad they were all able to come out and help him celebrate his birthday!

10 Years Old

My sweet Parker,
Today you've reached another milestone- double digits!  I can't believe it's been an entire decade since you made me a mom!  It's been a wonderful ride and I've enjoyed every minute of it (except maybe a few days of your terrible twos!). Here are a few things I want to remember about you as you start another decade of life:

- You are almost 5 feet tall and weigh about 80 pounds. It won't be long before you are taller than me! You wear size 10/12 clothes and size 7 1/2 shoes.

- You are an incredible student and continue to make straight A's. You love math and it's rare that you don't have your nose in a book. You finished all the Harry Potter books this year and all of the Percy Jackson series as well.

- You are a pretty good eater and will usually at least try new foods without complaint. Your favorite foods are spaghetti, cheeseburgers (plain and dry), chips and queso/salsa, tacos, fruit, eggs and bacon, pizza, and chicken alfredo.

- You are a very loyal friend and still enjoy hanging out with Robert, Cole, and Kaden.

- Your favorite thing to do after school is play computer/video games.

- You still enjoy playing baseball with Spitfire. You play pitcher and 3rd base. You also loved playing basketball this past fall.

- You love to wrestle with daddy before bed. And when Ryan comes over to play, you love to wrestle with him too!

- You are a great helper around the house and rarely complain when I ask you to help with chores.

- 4th grade hasn't been an easy year for you. You've struggled with a little bit of bullying and a lot of anxiety that stems from learning how to process daddy's MS. We've gotten you some help in the past month and you're doing much better.  It's been hard to watch you go through a tough year but you are a very brave kid and I know it will make you stronger in the future.

You are the greatest ten year old I know and it's such a privilege to be your mom. I love watching you grow into a young man and I know you are going to do great things in your life! Thank you for being such a blessing to our family!

I love you to the moon and back, Mom
