Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!  I am so blessed to be Parker, Eden, and Lily's mom!
After church, we went to Emily's for a Mother's Day dinner.  The weather was perfect so we spent most of the afternoon fishing and playing outside.  It was great to spend Mother's Day with all of my favorite people!
We also celebrated Granstan's birthday a few days early.  We hope he has a great birthday this week!

2nd Grade Living Museum

Lily's class just finished researching a famous person of their choice.  They ended their research by having a living museum for the parents.  The students dressed up as their famous person and gave a short speech about that person as the parents walked by.

Lily chose Dolly Parton to research.  She read a book this year about Dolly and fell in love with her and her songs.  When it came time to choose someone to research, I knew she was going to choose Dolly!
Lily did a great job being Dolly today!  Her hair might not have been as tall as Dolly's, but she told lots of great facts about her and represented her well!

SMS End of Year Awards

Tonight was Parker's End of Year Award ceremony.  He received awards for A/B Honor Roll and Highest Overall Average in PreAP Social Studies, and Outstanding Bandsman.
He also received the Rotary Award for being in the Top 10% of the 6th grade class.  We are so proud of all his hard work and accomplishments in his first year of middle school.

2nd Grade Field Trip to the Zoo

Today I had the privilege of chaperoning Lily's field trip to the Cameron Park Zoo in Waco. I'm always so thankful that my job allows me to go on almost all the kid's field trips.
The Cameron Park Zoo is one of my favorites.  It's circular layout makes it feel smaller than some of the other zoos but it still has all of the animals that the kids love!
Our favorite animals of the day were the momma and baby orangutan.  Watching them play and interact together was so fun!
It was a fun but exhausting day!  I enjoyed my one on one time with Lily so much and can't wait for our next field trip together!

Picnic in the Park

Parker participated in his first Picnic in the Park this afternoon.  This is an event that the Golden Pride has been having since Cory and I were in band many years ago.  It was amazing to hear the beginning band play today.  It's hard to believe that none of these students had ever played an instrument at the beginning of the school year.  They've come so far in just a few short months.  I'm so glad that Parker has chosen to stay in band next year.  I know I'm biased but he was definitely one of the best trumpet players in his band today!

AWANA Awards Banquet

Tonight was the AWANA end of year awards banquet.  Both girls have done a great job memorizing their Bible verses this year and I'm proud of all of their efforts.  They both received awards for completing their books.
Lily also received the Sparks award for Clubber of the Year!
Congrats Lily!  We are so proud of you!

April Little Things

April flew by and now we're about to start one of the busiest months of the year!  I can't believe we only have a few more weeks of school before summer vacation- we are all very ready for a couple of months off!

Mrs. Humphreys is always so sweet to send me pictures of the fun things Lily is doing in class.
Cory got a new car this month.  He needed something that could hold his wheelchair since he's using it more and more when we go out.  We are waiting to get the hand controls installed so he can finally drive it.
I took Eden shoe shopping and she got a little frustrated trying to find just the perfect pair.  And then she found these nice red ones!! I think they'll be perfect for church- ha!
The girls sent me this selfie when I was gone one night. There's always smiles when popsicles are involved!
Lily had perfect attendance this 6 weeks and got to attend the Principal's Painting Party.
These crazy girls had their first swim of the season this month!  I have no idea how they tolerated that cold water... you won't see me in the pool for at least another month!
The weather has been great for fishing lately.  The girls have followed Parker out to the pond several times after dinner.  They haven't caught much but they're having fun trying!
