Parker's Dentist Visit

We took Parker to the dentist this morning for his 6 month checkup and cleaning. Because the last trip to the dentist was a DISASTER, I decided to make the appointment on a morning that Cory could go with me and help me. What a difference 6 months and having daddy there to help made!!


Parker did a great job! He sat in Cory's lap and did not complain at all while he got his x-rays taken. Then he helped the hygienist "clean" Nemo's teeth before letting her clean his teeth. He did not want to lay down on the exam table but was content to lean on daddy during the exam. She was able to brush and floss his teeth without any fussing. Finally, he let the dentist count his teeth and put fluoride on them. He left with a good report and no cavities! Cory and I were both shocked at how well he did and were so proud of him for cooperating with both the hygienist and dentist throughout the cleaning.

Crazy Hair

For the past 5 months, I have had so much fun being able to put bows in Eden's hair. She does really well leaving them in around the house, but as soon as we get in the car, she reaches up and rips it out. I have tried every distraction I can think of, but she always seems to pull it out without me catching her.

Beauty

Parker and Eden's newest activity is to take EVERY single Lego from the Lego table and throw them into the kitchen. It takes them a while to accomplish this task and even longer to clean it up. In the end, I usually end up cleaning up most of them myself, which is not easy for someone who is 9 months pregnant.

A few days ago I heard them as they started throwing the Legos and asked them to find something else to do. I was tired and did not feel like being on my hands and knees picking up hundreds of Legos.

Parker said, "But Mom, I have to make the house look so pretty."

"Pretty" is not the word I would use to describe this mess.

I guess Cory was right when he said, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!"

More Parkerisms

As Parker grows and develops, so does his speech. He is such a sponge and picks up on everything we say. Here are a few recent things he has been saying:

"Good Night Nurse"
My dad says this all of the time when someone does something silly and Parker has recently started mimicking him. Last week, Eden was playing in the play kitchen and put her baby doll in the play oven. When Parker realized what she had done, he walked over, took the baby out of the oven and said "Good night nurse!"


"Look at me in the face"
When I need Parker to really listen to something I am saying, I will tell him to look at my eyes. That way I know he is really paying attention to me. Lately, anytime I am busy and he needs my attention he will tell me, "Mom, look at me in the face."


"But it's my FAVORITE!!!"
Last Saturday, I was going to make muffins for breakfast. Parker informed me that he wanted to have spaghetti for breakfast. After telling him that we don't eat spaghetti for breakfast, he said, "But Mom, it's my FAVORITE!" Needless to say, that was not a battle I was willing to fight, so I warmed up the leftover spaghetti and let him have it for breakfast.

Gig Em' Aggies

A few months ago I was in a resale shop and found Aggie outfits for both of the kids. Since tonight is the first televised Aggie game, I thought it would be a great day for the kids to show their Aggie spirit by wearing their Aggie maroon. WHOOP and Gig Em' Aggies!!!

Remembering Katelyn

Katelyn's tiny footprints

It's hard to believe that it has already been 5 years since we sent our sweet Katelyn to be with Jesus.

So many things have changed over the past five years, but the one thing that remains the same is how much we love her and miss her. There still is not one day that goes by that I don't think about her in one way or another.

As we remember her today, I pray that she will always know how much we love her and look forward to holding her one day in heaven.

I Love This Girl!

I feel so blessed to have a daughter! After I had Parker, I always had a feeling that I would be a mom of all boys. Thank goodness God had different plans! I can't imagine my life without Eden. She brings so much joy to our family with her easy going personality and sweet smiles. I pray that as my middle child, she will always know that she holds a very special place in my heart!
Last week, she found some "cymbals" in the kitchen and serenaded us for quite some time!

She loves to get into things, especially boxes and buckets. She doesn't always fit, but she doesn't seem to mind.

I have started sending Eden to her room for time out when she gets upset or throws a fit. I tell her that she can come back when she is happy again. She is usually only in her room for a few minutes before she is her happy, go-lucky self again. A few days ago, Parker accidentally shut her bedroom door, so Eden (without me saying anything to her) decided to put herself in time out in the bathroom!
