Spring Break 2016

We just wrapped up another spring break.  As sad as I am to see it end, I know the quicker we get back to school, the quicker summer vacation will be here.  Our spring break was pretty low key this year.  We spent most of the week at home but the kids didn't seem to care.

It rained a lot over the past two weeks so it was hard for us to get out and enjoy our yard.  Lily had fun playing in the puddles one day!
We kept my mom's dog Brinkley over spring break while they were in Florida.  Maggie was in heaven this week. She loved having another dog to play with every day and was sad to see her go this weekend.
Dairy Queen was giving away free ice cream cones on Tuesday so we took advantage of that!
On Wednesday, we drove up to the Grand Prairie outlet malls to get the kids some summer clothes.  They had outgrown all of their clothes from last summer and we have not had a chance to go shopping yet.  We found several good deals and the kids are now set for the warm weather.
After we left the outlet mall, we decided to surprise the kids with a special dessert at the Melting Pot, a local fondue restaurant.  The kids LOVED it!
The cousins came over to play on Friday.  Parker had baseball practice Friday night and Emily and I took the other 5 kids to Open Gym.  They had a great time playing together all day!
The girls have been begging me to take them for a pedicure so we finally found time on Saturday to go and get their toes painted.
Saturday afternoon, Cole came over to play with Parker and he brought his HoverBoard with him.  I tried to be a cool mom and decided to take a spin on it.  Parker help me get on it and I held on to his shoulders.  After a few minutes, he stepped away for just a second and before I knew it, I was on the ground.  I have never fallen that fast in my life.  I knew immediately that I was hurt.  I had fallen on my left arm, right knee, and right chin.  After a few minutes, I told Cory that I thought he needed to take me to the ER.  Turns out that I didn't break my arm but probably tore a muscle and it will take 4-6 weeks to heal.  I'm still in a LOT of pain and can't do most of my everyday activities.  I have learned my lesson and will definitely not be getting on a HoverBoard again!
What started off as an uneventful week quickly changed into a drama filled weekend!  Despite the injury, we still had a nice, relaxing spring break and we have now started our countdown to summer!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Today was St. Patrick's Day so I tried to do some fun "green" things with the kids.  We started our morning with green pancakes and ended with green ice cream shakes.
Even Maggie and Brinkley got in on the St. Patrick's Day fun!  We would hate for them to get pinched!

Parker's 3rd Grade Field Trip

March 1, 2016

Today was Parker's 3rd grade field trip to the Dallas World Aquarium.  Mrs. Click asked me to come as a chaperone and I enjoyed spending the day with Parker and some of his classmates/friends.
The manatee and sharks were their favorites and we spent a lot of time watching both of them!
Parker got to feed blueberries to some of the birds!
It's not often that I get one on one time with Parker so it was great to spend the day hanging out with him on his field trip.  I'm already looking forward to next year's trip!

February Little Things

Here are a few things I want to remember as February winds down and we start another month:

The kids are loving the trampoline they got for Christmas.  They have literally jumped on it every day this month.  The girls think that static hair is really funny!
The trampoline is a huge hit with the neighbors and even a little rain won't keep them away!
At dinner one night, the girls convinced Emily and I to let them have a sleepover.  I don't know why I ever agreed to it, but they had a great time sleeping in our living room together!
Lily was learning about the letter 'u' at preschool last week and Mrs. Angie sent me a picture of Lily and her friend with the unicorns they had brought for show and tell.
We went to Grandma and Papa's for lunch one day and the kids got to meet and play with two cousins that they had never met.  They had a great time and hopefully we will get to see them again soon.
I'll leave you this month with silly Eden!  We are looking forward to only a couple more weeks of school before Spring Break!

Gymnastics

February 15, 2016

After soccer season ended last fall, Eden and Lily decided that they both wanted to try gymnastics again.  The gym we went to when they were little had just relocated to a much bigger and nicer facility, so we decided to give it another try now that they were older and could be in the same beginner class together.  Their instructor is Jill, who is one of my former Gerard Grizzlies.  There's nothing that makes you feel old like having a former student teach your girls gymnastics!
Eden shed a few tears the first few classes but overall, they have done great and are really enjoying class.  It's been fun to watch them enjoy gymnastics again!

Happy 9th Birthday Jewell!

February 28, 2016

Today we helped Jewell celebrate her 9th birthday with a bowling party at Main Event.  Parker had baseball practice so I took the girls to the party.  They had a fun time bowling, eating pizza, and playing video games.
It's hard to believe Jewell is turning 9!  It seems like yesterday that I was holding her in the hospital!  It won't be long and Parker will be having his 9th birthday too!  Time sure needs to slow down!
