We just got back from a wonderful week in Florida. We had so much fun spending time with our family on the beach. This was the kid's first time at the beach and they LOVED it! I have a feeling we will definitely be going back soon!
We picked Cory up from work in Midlothian on Friday and headed out. We got in several rainstorms on the way including one at the Louisiana state line. Cory really wanted a picture at each state line and the kids were troopers to get out in the rain and get a picture with him.
Of course we had to stop at Dairy Queen for a treat! When we got to our first hotel, we were disappointed to find out that the room that was advertised to sleep 5 people actually only slept 4 people. We tried to put all three kids in one double bed but that didn't work. We tried putting the boys in one bed and the girls in one bed but once Eden fell out of bed and hit her chin on the nightstand, we realized that wasn't going to work either. We quickly decided that there was really no good solution so after trying to sleep at the end of the girl's bed, I gave up and slept on some pillows on the floor. I have never been so ready to see the sun come up.
After a fast morning of traveling, we stopped for lunch at McDonalds and the kids were thrilled that the lady at the drive thru was handing out balloon swords. Cory and I were not as thrilled but it was worth it to see their smiles!
After a long day, we finally made it to the Florida state line where the kids enjoyed some freshly squeezed orange juice.
We got in some really bad construction traffic once we got in Florida, but we finally made it to our house around dinner time. The kids were so excited to finally be at the beach. We stopped on our way to the grocery store later that night and let the kids see the beach for the first time. Parker and Lily loved it from the start but it took Eden until the next day before she finally warmed up enough to get her toes in the water.
