4th Six Weeks Awards

Today the girls had their awards program for the 4th six weeks.  Both Eden and Lily received awards for Perfect Conduct, Perfect Attendance, and A Honor Roll.   Eden also received the Grizzly Greatness Award for Mrs. Holland's class.  We continue to be so proud of the girls for their hard work at school.  They're definitely two of the best Grizzlies I know!

Pool Construction Update

It's only been a week but things are moving very quickly with the pool!  Just this week they set the rebar, completed electricity and plumbing, and sprayed the gunite.  It's been so fun to come home from work every day and see how it is progressing.
We've only had one little mishap so far.  One of the kids let Maggie outside when they got home from school and she decided to explore the new hole in the ground.  Unfortunately, the gunite wasn't completely dry yet and she left her footprints all around the bottom of the pool.  Luckily, our contractor said that this happens a lot and it will not affect the end results.
As long as the weather cooperates, we are definitely on track to having the pool finished by spring break!

We're Building a Pool!

Last summer, Granna and Granstan moved and we all missed having their pool to swim in so much.  We started talking then about possibly building our own pool and I'm excited to report that our dreams are finally coming true!  Our first meeting with the pool company was right after Christmas and we really liked the contractor we met with.  He was honest and full of great tips and ideas that we hadn't even thought of.  We settled on a design and got put on the list to start digging.  And then it started raining.  And raining.  And dig day kept getting pushed further and further back.  But today we finally got a break in the rain!  They showed up bright and early and got started!
The kids were mesmerized and sat at the window watching and videoing the whole thing.  It's not every day that a big excavator digs a huge hole in your backyard.
They got the forms all set and by the end of the afternoon, the pool had completely taken shape.
We live in a very rocky area so we were worried about hitting rock (which can add a lot of expense) but luckily they made it all the way to 8 feet without hitting any rock.
We can't wait to watch all of the changes over the next few weeks!  These kids will be swimming before they know it!
