Today we said goodbye to one of Eden's very dear friends- her pacifier!
Eden has been addicted to her pacifier from the week she was born. It went with her everywhere for the first year and a half of her life. A few months ago, I started only letting her have it at nap time, bedtime, or when she was sick, knowing that when she turned two years old, we would need to think about getting rid of it altogether.
Unfortunately for Eden, today was that day. I decided that the best thing would be to go cold turkey and just not offer it to her at nap time. Eden was not happy about it but was finally able to settle down for a short nap (after some crying and lots of jumping around in her crib). She was actually more upset about it after she got up from her nap than she was before the nap.
Bedtime tonight went better than expected too. She fussed for only a few minutes before settling down and falling asleep on her own without her paci.
I have no idea what the night will bring- she may be up in the middle of the night looking for her beloved paci. Tomorrow may a different story too. I have a feeling we might be living with a very crabby two year old for the next few days!
