A Real Snow Day

The huge winter storm that blew through our area last Tuesday is still hanging around. The temperatures have not gotten above freezing in almost 3 days which has left us stranded in our house since Tuesday. School has been cancelled every day this week and we are all getting a little bit stir crazy. We finally ventured out yesterday and drove the mile and a half to my parent's house just to get a change of scenery. Last night, another wave of the storm came through and this time we finally got some snow!

Parker was so excited when he woke up and immediately asked to go outside and play. After breakfast, we finally bundled everyone up in some hand me down snow suits that we inherited from a family friend. (If you are wondering why Eden looks like a little boy in the pictures, it is because our friend has 3 boys. We picked the red snow suit for her because it seemed to be the most girly, but she still looked like a little boy! Sorry Eden!)

After we bundled everyone up (including Lily), we headed out to the backyard for some fun. The kids were fine for about 5 minutes and then our fun in the snow quickly turned into crying and screaming in the snow. All the kids wanted to do was go back inside. Cory's dream of snowball fights and making snow angels with the kids was over before I could even get the video camera out.

We are hoping to venture out in the snow again today after nap time. I am hoping for a little more success but am not getting my hopes up too much. It's a good thing that we only see snow once a year in Texas because my kids would definitely not survive if we lived in the north!
