We just returned from our annual ski trip to Beaver Creek. As always, the Ranelles and Hus were wonderful hosts and we had a great, relaxing time away.
Cory wasn't sure if he wanted to try adaptive skiing again but Dr. Hu was insistent that he try at least one day and offered to pay for his lesson. The first day went so well that Cory decided to take a second day of lessons so he could get to the top of the mountain and ski with me and Heath again. It had been four years since we've skied together and there are no words to describe how happy we all were when we saw him get off the chair lift at the top. There may or may not have been some happy tears shed that morning!
Cory's instructor was wonderful and taught him a lot in just two short days. By the end, Cory was controlling all the turns himself. The instructor was just controlling his speed.Just like every other year, the food on this trip didn't disappoint. One night, we took a sleigh ride to Beano's- a restaurant on top of the mountain.
The last night, we went to Dr. Hu's house and had a catered dinner. There were so many wonderful choices!
We are so grateful for this getaway each winter and look forward to it all year! Getting Cory back on the mountain was definitely the highlight of this trip and something we will always remember!
