Colorado- Days 1 & 2- On the Way

We just got back from a wonderful week in Colorado and I'm already ready to go back!  We started our trip last Sunday and drove to Trinidad, Colorado.  It was a long day of driving but we made sure to stop several times and break up the day for the kids.  We stopped and had lunch with the cousins and let them play on the playground for a few minutes.

The next morning, we took the kids to a local park before getting back in the car for five more hours. 

There was a splash pad next to the park that the kids begged to play in.  All of our extra clothes were packed so we told them they could run around the water as long as they didn't get their clothes wet.  They stayed surprisingly dry!

We stopped for lunch at a park just outside the Royal Gorge.  The kids enjoyed feeding the ducks after lunch.

Cory has always wanted to go to the Royal Gorge.  Since we only had a few more hours to get to Breckenridge, we decided to stop and let him see it.  We didn't have enough time to go inside the park but we were able to see the gorge from a scenic lookout.  It was beautiful and I hope we can eventually go back and see the entire gorge.

It was two long days of traveling but we finally made it to Breckenridge by dinner on Monday evening.
