All Star Basketball Tournament

This weekend, Parker played in an All Star basketball tournament in Aledo with several of his teammates and some other boys that he's never played with before.  The team was only able to practice together twice before the tournament.  They definitely came into the tournament as the underdogs but they were able to come together as a team and win the championship!
I was so proud of Parker and his teammates for the way they worked and played together.
It was a long day but coming home as champions made it all worth it!  I am so glad my family got to come and watch several of the games.  I can't wait to watch him play in middle school next year!

Dr. Suess Day

Today our school ended a three-week long Read-a-Thon fundraiser with a celebration of Dr. Seuss's birthday.  Everyone dressed up and many classes spent the day reading.  There were lots of Thing 1 and Thing 2 running around the school!  (Eden didn't want to participate this year).

What a fun way to end our reading fundraiser!

February Little Things

February has come and gone and we are just a couple of weeks away from spring break!  Here are a few of our February happenings:

We finished up basketball season this month.  Mrs. Humphreys was so sweet to come and watch Lily's last game.  Both girls played well this season and improved a lot!
Parker's team placed 2nd in their age group.  Parker played very well and was even asked to join one of the prime teams for a few games.  I can't wait to watch him play in middle school next year.
Parker has really enjoyed learning how to play the trumpet this year in band.  He had his first solo contest this month and got a superior rating.
He also had his first beginning band concert this month.  Unfortunately, it was when Cory and I were in Beaver Creek.  Luckily, Granna, Granstan, and the girls were there to support him. (Cory and I enjoyed the concert via FaceTime!)
Eden has so many sweet friends in her class this year.  One of the moms sent this to me after she ate lunch with them one day.
Our school chose not to have Valentine's Day parties this year, but Mrs. Click surprised the girls with lip-shaped lollipops to enjoy!
Mrs. Humphreys is always sending me pictures of things Lily is doing in class.  One day, they used Oreos to learn about phases of the moon.
Another day, Lily and her best friend, Ellie, earned candy and a drink from Braum's for reading 200 books this year!
Eden and Lily both earned Perfect Attendance, Perfect Conduct, and A Honor Roll for this six weeks!  Cory and I are so proud of their hard work this year!
Lily loved that she and Mrs. Humphreys were both Fern from "Charlotte's Web" on Storybook Character Day at school!
February was good to us, but we are ready for March and a little break from school!

Beaver Creek 2019

Another great ski trip to Beaver Creek is in the books!  The best part of this year's trip was getting to ski with Cory at the top of the mountain for the first time in 5 years.  Cory's ski apparatus had a few changes from last year that made it much easier for him to control on his own.  He did a great job and enjoyed getting to ski with me and Heath again.
We always appreciate the Ranelle's and Hu's allowing us to join them in Beaver Creek for a long weekend every year.  It's always nice to get away and enjoy beautiful scenery, great food, and good company for a few days.

Superintendent's Citizenship Award

Every six weeks, one student at our school is awarded the Superintendent's Citizenship Award.  This six weeks, Lily was chosen to be the 2nd grade recipient.

Tonight, the 2nd grade recipients from each elementary school were recognized at the school board meeting. They each received a trophy for being good citizens at school.  We are so proud of Lily for this recognition!
Lily was so excited that Mrs. Humphreys was able to come and support her at the meeting.
Way to go, Lily!  We are so proud of you!

January 2019

2019 is off to a great start!  We stayed very busy in January with basketball but still had time for a few other fun things too!

We had unusually warm temperatures one Saturday so we took the kids to play tennis.  It was a perfect day to be outside!  Aunt Emily taught us a game called "Jail" and the kids loved it!  I think we played for almost two hours.
Parker is having a lot of fun in the church youth group this year.  He had fun at the Christmas party with the other 6th grade boys.
The girls both earned A Honor Roll and Perfect Citizenship awards for the 3rd 6 weeks.  Eden also had Perfect Attendance.  I'm always so proud of how hard they work at school!
Eden helped her sweet friend, Grace, celebrate her 10th birthday at Urban Air.  She had a great time with lots of her friends from school.
Eden, Reagan, and Grace have been friends since preschool.
We celebrated the 100th Day of School this month.  Our PTA surprised the students with a huge sign in front of the school.  I can't believe we've already been in school for 100 days!  Summer will be here before we know it!

December Little Things

2018 has come to an end!  It has definitely had some ups and downs and I'm not sad to see it go.  I'm ready to start a new year and make some new memories with the kids.  Here are a few things we did in December to finish up the year:

Eden had her GT CafĂ© to show off the science project she's been working on all semester.  She was so excited when she arrived and saw a first place ribbon!
One night we were all watching America's Funniest Videos when a dog segment came on.  Maggie, who had been sleeping on my bed, perked up and watched every single dog video.  As soon as it was over, she went right back to sleeping.  The kids thought it was so funny that she wanted to watch videos about dogs!
And that wraps up another year in the Brown household!  I'm so thankful for my wonderful family and all the memories we've made this year!
