4th of July

The Fourth of July is a special day around our house.  Not only do we celebrate our nation's independence, but we celebrate my mom's (Granna's) birthday too!  Cleburne has not had a 4th of July parade in several years, so we decided to try the parade in Keene instead.  While we waited for the parade to start, we enjoyed donuts in the back of Granstan's pickup truck.
My three firecrackers!
(And I love that getting pictures of the three of them is getting easier!)
As the parade began, we told the kids to wave to all the people on the floats.  They quickly realized that waving resulted in candy being thrown their way!  Needless to say, there was A LOT of waving going on!  We left the parade with more candy than we got last Halloween- it was crazy!

After the parade, we promised each kids one piece of candy in exchange for a few family pictures.  Eden wasn't thrilled but at least there weren't any tears.
After the parade, we headed back to Granna/Granstan's house for swimming and a cookout.  Parker was excited that his friends Jolea and Cole were able to come swim with us for a little while.

The kids were excited to sing Happy Birthday to Granna and help her blow out her candles.  We ran into a few technical difficulties while making the cake.  It may have not looked great but it sure did taste good!
We had a great day celebrating with our family and hope Granna felt extra special on her birthday!  We love you Granna!  Thanks for all you do for our family!

*UPDATE*- As I was putting Eden to bed on the 4th, we were talking about the day and I asked her if she enjoyed the parade.  She told me that she "loved the parade so much" and that she wanted a parade for her birthday, just like Granna.  I tried to explain to her that most people don't get to have a parade on their birthday but it completely went over her head.  She has told me at least two other times that all she wants for her birthday is a parade!
