Swimming Lessons

Now that I'm finally finished blogging about our cruise, I desperately need to catch up on everything else we have been doing this summer!  Eden and Lily both took swim lessons at the beginning of June.  Parker was so busy with all-star tball practices and games that he didn't get to take this year.

I've said it before, but Jenny, our swim teacher, is perhaps one of the best swim teachers in the world!  My goal for Lily this summer was to get her used to being in the water and get comfortable enough to swim with her floaties on so that I did not have to hold her all the time.  After two weeks with Jenny, she far exceeded my expectations.

I was so proud of Lily.  She is the first child in our family to not cry the entire first week of swim lessons!  Parker and Eden both spent the first five days screaming and begging to stop.  Lily got in the water on the first day and did everything Jenny asked her to do without any fussing or crying.  As a result, she is now swimming on her own WITHOUT any floaties.  Amazing!  The girls took their first week of lessons before our cruise and the second week while we were gone (thanks Granna for taking them every day!).  When we got back from our trip, I couldn't believe how well she was swimming on her own.  She can even jump off of the diving board and swim to the side of the pool without any help.  Again, amazing!  Especially for a 2 1/2 year old!

Eden also had a great two weeks of lessons and only cried when she had to learn how to dive.  This is only the second summer that Eden has taken lessons and she definitely made some huge improvements in her swimming during the two weeks.  She learned how to use both her arms and legs while she is swimming and Jenny said her form is very good for a four year old.   She can now jump off the diving board (something she refused to do last summer), swim the width of the pool, and dive down to retrieve toys from the bottom of the pool.

I'm so proud of both of the girls for working for hard for Miss Jenny this summer.  They have both continue to improve since their lessons ended and we've definitely got two little fish on our hands!
