Snowmageddon 2015

The weather the past two weeks has been crazy!  I was just thinking last month what a mild winter we have had and then we got slammed with two weeks of ice, snow and freezing temperatures.  We have now missed three days of school and I'm hoping this is going to be the last round of winter storms for this year.

The kids have loved getting a taste of what a real winter looks like and have made lots of memories playing in the ice/snow.  The first two days we only had ice.  The kids looked out the window and saw our neighbors Grace and Luke sliding down our hill in a raft, so they quickly got dressed in whatever they could find and raced outside.  They only lasted about 15 minutes before they wanted to come in and sit by the fire to warm up!
Three days later, our next round of winter weather blew in, but this time we got "real" snow (as Parker called it!).  It started while we were at school so I checked the kids out of class when I left at noon and we headed home to play in the snow.  The kids loved getting to make snow angels and throw some snowballs at each other, but the snow wouldn't stick enough to make a snowman.
Eden's favorite part was eating the snow!
Today we are out of school for our third day and the kids have had a lot of fun playing with our neighbors in the snow.  They got to sled down the neighbors hill and even made a very small snowman.

I'm glad that the kids finally got to experience some snow.  We have not had snow since Lily was a newborn and I know they've enjoyed getting to play and have fun with their friends in the snow.  I hope this is the last of the winter weather.  I'm definitely ready for some sunnier and warmer temperatures around here, especially since spring break starts next week!
