Washington DC- An Unplanned Day 4

We woke up on Day 4 to an email that said our flight had been cancelled due to a horrible ice storm in Dallas.  No flights were getting into Dallas from DC at all that day which meant we were stuck for an extra day.  I was desperately ready to see the kids but there was nothing we could do about it.

Cory wanted to go back to the art museum but I was museum-ed out so I curled up in the hotel bed with my book and a Father of the Bride movie marathon while he went out to explore for one more day.  He spent several more hours at the art museum and also went back to The Mall to see a few memorials we didn't make it to on the first day.  The pizza from the first night was so good that we decided to go back again for dinner on our last night in DC.

FDR Memorial

A few miscellaneous things about the trip:

We became very familiar with the DC Metro system and took it almost everywhere we needed to go throughout the entire trip.

Our hotel was located in a quaint neighborhood off of DuPont Circle.  It was one of the nicest hotels I think we have ever stayed in.  The room was so nice, the bed was so comfortable and the hotel clerks were so friendly and helpful, especially when we unexpectedly needed to extend our stay an extra night.
Overall, we had a great trip and Cory was able to mark another thing off of his Bucket List.  I was so proud of him throughout the entire trip.  There was A LOT of walking involved in this trip and he never complained or gave up, even when we both didn't think we could walk another step.  He kept pushing and pushing and as a result, he saw everything that he came to see.  It is definitely a trip that we will always remember and I am so glad that I was able to experience it with him!
